Traditional and Designer Sarees

Posted in : Wedding Style

(added few months ago!)

For any girl, her wedding is a very important occasion and one of the most important days of her life. For such an important day, an Indian woman has no better option other than wearing a gorgeous saree. Saree plays an important role in Indian culture. Weddingdressforme.com presents you the Indian traditional and designer wear to showcase style and elegance on wedding day and other events you participate. There are many different forms of Saree which is not only trendy and easy to wear but also gives you sophisticated look.

Sarees of all kinds, traditional and designer, are highly in demand all over the world. A traditional saree can be worn throughout India in 15 different styles and have been modified by designers to give them a trendier look. These sarees include Silk, Nylon, Hand Printed, Benarasi, Georgette, Chiffon and Even Bridal Sarees.

Indian women in ancient times used to wear saree in their house and at festive occasions. But now women have become an integral part of the work force. They need attires which are easy to wear and still give a formal look. They like to dress up for the occasion and make an imprint of their taste. Saree with different kinds of belt embellished on the waist gives a complete modern statement and youthfulness to the wearer. It accentuates the waist and adds style. Slim and tall lady will look gorgeous in this attire.

Sarees come in a wide range of colors and designs which give the wearer a unique look. Designer sarees include Modern Prints, Embellishments, Zari work, Sequins, Beading, Painting and Embroidery. To give your look glamorous and sophisticated, combined your saree color and design with the shoes and right jewelry accessories like Rings, Earrings, Necklace, and Bracelet. The blouse cut and pattern also matters a lot as a chic blouse can act as an accessory to the saree while a badly tailored blouse can ruin even the best of sarees. Bollywood inspired blouses are becoming increasingly popular, as are corset type blouses.

Most sarees are handmade so need special care like needs to be dry cleaned and wrapped in tissue before storing.

2011 Wedding Dresses

Posted in : Wedding Dress

(added few months ago!)

Something else which is a strong trend for 2011 wedding dresses is that the silhouettes of the gowns have gotten slimmer. There were a number of soft sheath dresses on the runways, and far fewer ballgowns than in seasons past. Even at classic designers like Christos, the sheath and the A-line gown were far more common than a full ballgown. The other top silhouette is the trumpet, which remains popular. Another carry over from 2010 is the emphasis on the natural waistline. This trend away from a dropped waist started with the 1950s inspired bridal gowns, and is very strong for 2011. The natural waist is emphasized by sashes, bows, and origami folds in soft materials like organza, especially at Amsale.

Are short wedding dresses OK?

Posted in : Wedding Dress

(added few months ago!)

Are short wedding dresses OKOur fashion doctor helps a bride-to-be whose friends insist she can't wear a mini-dress to her wedding.

Q: I'm not sure if wedding attire is in your area of expertise, but I need an opinion I can trust, and so far the advice of yours that I have read has been fairly on the button. Let's start at the beginning – I am getting married. My fiance and I are off to a tropical island to get married and will have a fairly casual/low-key ceremony.

Where I need help from you is the dress. As our ceremony is going to be on the beach, the dress that I have in mind is a gorgeous strapless number that falls just above the knee – I thought that this would be fine given the casual nature of the day and the fact that it is on a beach.

All my friends and sisters keep telling me that I can't wear a "mini-dress" to my wedding and need to wear a proper wedding dress. We went in to look at a bridal shop. I expressed my opinions to the shop staff and they told me to buy a full-length gown and have it taken up to mid-calf length – one word, blerk.

Is it acceptable for a bride to wear a knee-length dress or is it bad taste?

A: Stuff the lot of them, I say. Although don't tell your beloved friends and family that I said that.

Not all of us want to look like a frothy giant shower pouf at our weddings. Nor do we all want to be wider than our groom with all those frills and frippery. But as it is your day (and his) I expect that you still want to look and feel your best. And if your pins are your best bits, then flaunt them, I say.

Karen Walker wore a mini-dress to her wedding, so why can't you?

A word of advice: I'd keep away from the strapless mini combo. Am I shattering your dreams? Sorry.

I live by the rule of balance – if you've got your boobs out, then cover your legs, and vice versa. There are some stunning white and cream dresses around that are mini in length but not so hoochie up top.

Look for ornate fabrics like lace and brocade that are simple in cut, like a classic shift style in either long, short or singlet-length sleeves. For the price you'd pay for a less-than-stunning gown from a bridal store, you may as well treat yourself and buy a dress by a luxury European designer from Net-a-porter. It is your wedding day, after all.

Twilight Breaking Dawn Fans Try On Bella’s Wedding Gown

Posted in : Wedding Dress

(added few months ago!)

If you’re like most Twi-hards, chances are you’ve been a little obsessed with all things Breaking Dawn, but some fans are taking it a step further. According to Cambio, some young fans pay a visit to bridal salons just to try on the replica of Bella’s wedding gown. Here is what they said:

Twilight Breaking Dawn Fans Try On Bella’s Wedding Gown

But not just engaged Twilight fans, it seems like a lot of teen girls who are most likely (we hope) NOT engaged are booking appointments as well.

The problem is, most bridal ateliers only let engaged customers make appointments to try on dresses so this means there’s a lot of lying going on by single Twihards. And we’re guessing some serious ring borrowing and a lot of ‘My fiancee’s name is Edward’ happening too. However, with some stores going as far as to place cardboard cutouts of Edward and Jacob next to the dress, it looks like they don’t mind getting lied to.

Wow, I hope that these fans are not lying just to try on a wedding dress! I’m a huge fan of the whole Twilight saga and I would love to wear a duplicate of the dress Bella wore but I don’t think I would ever go that far. What do you think?
