Weddings are surely one of the occasions where the two parties spend wholeheartedly. However, a latest survey has revealed that the people in New Zealand have actually been spending a lot more with a motive to attend their friends' marriages.
According to a recently conducted survey by the hotel booking website, Hotels.com, ha said that tying a knot is just not a costly affair for the bride and groom but is costly even for the guests who plan to attend the wedding as well. The survey further mentioned that people in New Zealand spend over $1000 a year attending weddings.
The survey takes into account expenses like cost of outfits, gifts, travel and accommodation. The marketing manager of Hotels.com Katherine Birch said that the financial burden on the people for attending weddings is often underestimated. Close to 58% of the total people being surveyed said that the traveled within New Zealand to attend a wedding while close to two in five mentioned that they have traveled overseas to attend a wedding of close ones. Many of them even said that they have turned down an invitation of a dear relative because of cost.
